Who is richer? The one who has more, or the one who wants less? What of the one who wants nothing? Isn’t he the richest of all.

There is no end to how much you can have. You can keep accumulating and you will not reach the end of it. But if your wants and desires start dissolving — when the last desire dissolves, you have taken a quantum leap.

Once the desires start dropping like dead leaves from the tree, there comes a point where all desires have been dropped. What happens then?

Whatever happens or doesn’t happen, this state is much more possible than to reach a state of having everything. Desirelessness by dropping of all desires is possible, eventhough it looks and feels impossible. Having everything is impossible, eventhough it looks and feels possible.

The next desire almost always seems like the last desire you will run after. But its never the case. As you start closing in on the desire, a new desire has already started growing, a new race has already started within.

It’s like we are running in circles. No beginning and no end. Just running and running and running. Faster and faster. Finding new ways to improve our running. Finding new reasons to run.

The whole thing is absolutely pointless and insignificant. We start running when we are born and we keep running till we die. Then again we are born and again we run till we die. Again and again and again. To nowhere. For nothing.

Nothing ever sticks to us. We cling to our wealth and our possessions and our children and our body but its absolutely useless. Death comes and takes it all.

This life is meant to be a lesson. It is there for us to jump out of the insane circular running. It is to become aware of this entire circus and be free of it.

And it can only start when we stop running. Or rather, when the running stops. Seeing the whole absurdity of the chase is required. A zooming out is required. An alertness is required.

The running will dissolve on its own.
