You want a better experience of life.

Now you might be trying to achieve that in different ways:

  • Money
  • Partner
  • Meaning
  • Power
  • Religion
  • Enlightenment
  • Awakening
  • Business
  • Pets
  • Travel

Somewhere you have an idea that the misery you are feeling right now will go and happiness will come in if you keep running behind these things. This better experience always lies in the future.

Sometimes you achieve your desires. You buy that dream home, marry your dream partner, make a million dollars and you feel great. You feel ecstatic. But only for a few moments. Maybe a few days at best.

And the happiness starts fading and misery is back. All those years spent working on this, all that misery you experienced, all for this temporary state of ecstasy. Not even lasting more than a few days. It does not seem worth it.

From here, you start setting bigger goals, higher goals, starting the whole cycle again.

You can even renounce and go to the other extreme. Completely breaking all ties and now seeking truth, God, Bliss — with the same expectation of a better experience of life. Only the object of desire has changed. The desiring mind is still the same. The misery still persists.

Now, how does one achieve FREEDOM from this misery?
Is there any possibility of getting free of this misery?
If yes, how?

Only understanding can help.

We have to go to the root cause of misery. We need to get our hands dirty. Its a tough journey because it can only be taken alone. One can only point you in a direction. It is your decision to look (or not). If you look, you might see something new.

The old has to be dropped. You will have to realize that the things you are guarding with your life are the ones creating your misery.
